Judge Cynthia Chappell

Prior to assuming the bench in 2022, Judge Chappell was in private practice for 29 years.

A native of McKenzie, Tennessee, Judge Chappell has made Nashville her home since 1995.  She received her B.A. in Psychology from Rhodes College and her J.D. from the University of Memphis Law School.

Judge Chappell holds membership in the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, the Tennessee Bar Foundation (Fellow) and Board of Trustees, Harry Phillips Inns of Court Emeritus, Lawyers Association for Women (Marion Griffin Chapter), Tennessee Trial Judges Association and the National Association of Women Judges. She is a former member of the Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals and a mock trial volunteer.

Judge Chappell has two sons, Jackson and Isaac.
