Judge Muriel Robinson is Judge of the Fourth Circuit Court in the 20th Judicial Circuit serving Davidson County, Tennessee. She was elected to her circuit judge post in 1982 and is the first woman to be elected by popular vote as judge of a court of record in Davidson County.

A native of Davidson County, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Garner Robinson, former Sheriff and Trustee of Davidson County, Tennessee, and she is the sister of the late General Sessions Judge Gale Robinson and the Aunt of the present Judge Gale B. Robinson, General Sessions Court, Division I.

Judge Robinson attended the University of Tennessee, Belmont College, Tennessee Tech, and Peabody College for her pre-law studies. She received her Bachelor of Laws degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1968 and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1971 from the same school. She was admitted to practice in 1969 and was also licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Tennessee, the United States Federal District Court, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati.

She was engaged in the general practice of law for 14 years in the law office of Jack Norman, Sr. before her election to the bench. She also serves on the faculty of the Nashville School of Law and is the first woman to serve on their faculty.

Judge Robinson has served as Presiding Judge of the 14 Trial Courts of Davidson County, being the first woman elected to the position in Davidson County as well as the first woman in the State of Tennessee.
