Carol L. Soloman presides over the newly-created 8th Circuit Court for the 20th Judicial District. She practiced law in DavidsonCounty and surrounding counties for 19 years prior to taking the bench In September, 1998. Her primary emphasis in her private law practice was family law and criminal law.
Soloman is a 1979 graduate of the Nashville School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from PeabodyCollege (now VanderbiltUniversity at Peabody).
She is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Lawyers Association for Women, of which she was a founding member. Soloman is a former assistant district attorney general and initiated the original victim/witness grant in Tennessee. Soloman is a member of CABLE, Democratic Women, Women's Political Caucus, Goodlettsville and Madison Chambers of Commerce.
She is the mother of four children and the grandmother of four children. Her foster child, Michael Shockney, resides with Soloman in Goodlettsville. Soloman enjoys gardening and is an avid scuba diver.
